The Keeper of the Town Clock is responsible for the:

* maintenance, oiling, cleaning, repairs, winding, accuracy, and historical information of the Town Clock, which is located atop the Old Baptist Church (now a private residence) at Route 119 and School Street

This is a traditional position established in colonial times and enduring through the years. The position originated in Groton in 1897, when Dr. Samuel Green made a gift to the Town of the clock.
